Celebrating 99 Years!

Mesquite, NV – On September 17, the Women’s History and Culture Center surprised a member of the Mesa Valley Estates women’s group with a 99th birthday party! Jean, who turned 99 years the day before, had no idea that the monthly gathering was in her honor.

Mayor Al Litman joined the party to present the birthday girl with a special birthday proclamation from the City of Mesquite.

Jean blew out the candles on her birthday cake and enjoyed lots of cards and presents from the community.

Jean has exciting stories to tell about the adventures of her life. She and her twin sister were registered nurses prior to retirement. Her sister has passed, and Jean misses her daily. Together with her husband and two children, Jean lived many years in the northern territory of Australia. As ranchers, they relied heavily on Australian Aboriginal natives. 99 Years of living gives one a unique perspective and Jean’s joyful demeanor makes her life stories all the sweeter!

You make our lives richer by sharing yours.

This monthly gathering has become a golden moment for the ladies of Mesa Valley Estates as well as the Women’s History and Culture Center. Heart, laughter, hugs, and love are constants here. Thank you to the Greater Mesquite community for your participation, birthday cards, presents for Jean, and always, your support for WHCC initiatives.

Everyone had fun having their pictures taken in the special celebration photo booth.
